YES Alumni Engage the 7th Fleet Band at KL Performances
The US Navy’s 7th Fleet Band from the USS Blue Ridge held two performances in Kuala Lumpur (at the Central Market and 1Utama Mall). On October 26, over 300 Malaysians attended the performance at KL Central Market along with 45 excited YES alumni who were in Kuala Lumpur for a worldwide conference to empower youth by developing their leadership skills. On October 27, the band played to an audience of 350 people at the busy 1Utama shopping mall. In all, over 650 people appreciated the one hour American music performances from these talented U.S. sailors.
The 7th Fleet Band came to Kuala Lumpur aboard the “USS Blue Ridge,” the command ship of the U.S. 7th Fleet, which paid a visit to Kuala Lumpur. While here, media took part in a press briefing with the ship’s Commanding Officer, Captain Thom Burke, before being taken on a tour of the ship.
