U.S. Embassy Hosted a Webchat on “Space Technology for Improved Environmental Management and Adaptation to Climate Change”

On Thursday, January 27, 2011, Kris Kvols, Environment, Science, Technology and Health Officer, U.S. Embassy hosted a webchat event as a part of the COP-16 follow-on program and included two speakers: Daniel Irwin, Project Director of the Mesoamerican Regional Visualization and Monitoring System (SERVIR), and Dr. Ashutosh Limaye, SERVIR Chief Scientist at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. The speakers described the SERVIR program which included an in-depth explanation of the adaptation and landscapes information it provides. In addition to the live audience of ten scientists, Malaysian government officials and students gathered at the Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange’s (MACEE) office in Kuala Lumpur, an additional 23 login points were recorded which included a larger group of fifteen participants gathered at the Lincoln Corner in Kuching, Sarawak.
