Kelantan Students Travel to the U.S. to Join Southeast Asia Youth Leadership Program
Three Malaysian student leaders from Aman Islamic school in Kota Bharu, Kelantan will attend a three-week Southeast Asia Youth Leadership program in the United States. The students will travel to De Kalb, Chicago and Washington D.C. where they will join 23 student leaders from Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore and Brunei. The program will focus on fostering greater understanding and respect between the youth of various countries and also help to develop a sense of civic responsibility among teenagers and young adults. The student leaders will participate in activities related to civic education, leadership development, and community service at Northern Illinois University. Students will live with American families for several days before continuing their program in Washington, D.C. which will include a visit to the White House. When they return to Malaysia, the student will put their leadership skills to good use conducting projects to further community development in their home town.
