On December 9, the alumni of Ohio University hosted a dinner in conjunction with an official visit by a university delegation to Kuala Lumpur.  Approximately 300 former “Bobcats,” or alumni of the university, attended the dinner ceremony.  The third largest organization of Ohio University alumni is its Malaysian alumni network.  The only larger alumni groups are in Ohio.

In a speech delivered by Mr. Roderick McDavis, President of the university, Mr. McDavis highlighted the importance of the role of alumni in helping to expand the long-term linkages between OU and Malaysian universities and the Malaysian government, especially Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM),  which has produced more than 2,500 Malaysian OU graduates.

The Cultural Affairs Officer and the Alumni Coordinator represented the U.S. Embassy. Also participating in the dinner ceremony was Dr. Habibah Ashari, the 14th Tun Abdul Razak Chair holder at OU, the second woman to hold the Chair in its 30-year existence and the first female Chair from UiTM. She is joined by Professor Datuk Dr. Zakaria Ahmad , the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research at HELP University, and a former Tun Abdul Razak Chair.
