MELTA Hosts 400 English Language Teachers in Johor Bahru

U.S. Embassy Cultural Affairs Officer and Cultural Affairs Specialist participated in the 18th Annual Malaysian English Language Teaching Association (MELTA) conference in Johor Bahru, June 11 – 14. 400 English language teachers and practioners nationwide attended the conference officiated by HRH Raja Zarith Sofiah binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah. The theme for this year’s conference, “Aligning Teaching and Learning – Effective Methodologies in English Language Education”, saw well-attended breakout sessions as well as the ever popular storytelling workshops. The conference witnessed greater active participation from presenters abroad and from the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
This year’s event also provided an opportunity for the U.S. Embassy to brief the participants about the services offered by the Lincoln Resource Center. Teachers were informed that the Lincoln Resource Center staff was available to assist teachers in obtaining English language teaching resources/ materials for their teaching needs.
