On June 17 and 18, Johnny Rodgers Band gave two performances and a music workshop in Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia, located on the island of Borneo. Owing to popular demand after the 2010 Rhythm Road American Music Abroad concerts, the Mayor of Sandakan welcomed the Band back to their stage. Johnny Rodgers Band provided another opportunity for 1000 Sandakan residents to experience the music and songs of American jazz. The concert was sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and the Sandakan Municipal Council.
The audience was completely thrilled by the performance of Johnny Rodgers who invited them to participate in an interactive manner. The concert was attended by Sabah Minister of Industrial Development Datuk Raymond Tan and Sandakan Mayor Datuk James Wong. The Band also conducted a music workshop for fifteen musicians and students where they had the opportunity to perform.
