On June 25, Ambassador Jones presented certificates to fourteen grantees of the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Scholarship Program during a debrief session held at the Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE).

The grantees who recently returned from the U.S. after a completion of their studies participated in the Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant Program(FLTA) , International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP),  Global UGRAD Exchange Program (UGRAD), and the Fulbright Malaysian Graduate Study and Research Program.

In his remarks, Ambassador Jones acknowledged that the Fulbright program helps scholars in their professional developments and also eases misconceptions about the United States.  He also stressed the importance of focusing on the 3 E’s - Educate, Engage, and Empower.  He encouraged the returnees to be active in alumni associations which are the Fulbright Alumni Association Malaysia (FAAM) and also the Malaysian-American Alumni Partnership (MAAP).

Alumni had the opportunity to talk to Ambassador Jones and share their exchange experiences during their programs in the United States. The event concluded with a group photo session.

Also present at the event were Dr. James Coffman, Executive Director of MACEE, Mr. Mohd Assia Adenan, Assistant Secretary from the Ministry of Education, and FAAM Exco Members.
