U.S. Embassy Supports ‘English Week’ program with English Language Trainers

On Monday April 23, the U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur in partnership with the ELS Language Center conducted two workshops in conjunction with “English Week”, organized by the Raja Melewar Teacher Education Institute in Seremban. ELS Academic Directors Mr. Isa Martin and Mr. Nate Conrad conducted three sessions, each of which focused on the themes of “Beyond the textbook: Using authentic materials in the secondary school English language classroom”, and “Story Telling and Narrative Writing for English Learners.”  More than 100 English Language educators from secondary schools across the state of Negeri Sembilan participated in the program. The sessions were highly interactive and the participants were very impressed with the presentations. The participants gained new teaching ideas as well as techniques from both speakers and look forward to future programs sponsored by the Embassy on English Language education.
