Ambassador Keith Engages in NST Live Web Chat

On August 4, Ambassador Keith spent over an hour with a large number of readers of the New Straits Times Online during a live webchat on NST Live.  The Ambassador responded to numerous questions on a broad array of topics ranging from nuclear non-proliferation, to human trafficking to a recent uptick in the numbers of Malaysians requesting U.S. student visas.  He reiterated that the United States and the Malaysian are partners in many areas and he sees our relationship as growing closer of late.  The Ambassador also mentioned that he welcomes Malaysia’s recent efforts in the fight against human trafficking. 

This live exchange via the NST LIVE online platform offered members of the Malaysian public an opportunity to engage directly with the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia, and to hear first-hand what he feels are the United States’ priorities for its relationship with Malaysia. The New Straits Times followed up on the webchat with a full-page article in the next day’s edition of the NST paper edition.  After the webchat, the Ambassador spent time meeting and greeting many of the hardworking reporters and editors in the NST Newsroom.
