Two Malaysian Students Admitted to U.S. Prestigious Military Academies

On June 4, Ambassador Paul W. Jones, presented certificates to two outstanding Malaysian students to attend a four-year degree programs at the United States Military Academy at West Point and the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis respectively. Ambassador Jones presented the students with a letter of acceptance for a scholarship worth approximately US$284,000 in a ceremony at the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. The U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission, scholars’ parents and several U.S. and Malaysian military officials were in attendance at this ceremony.  These achievements were widely covered by the Malaysian media, because the last time Malaysian representatives were admitted to such a prestigious U.S. service academies was in 2006.
