U.S. EMBASSY CONSULAR SECTION ENHANCEMENTS AND TEMPORARY CLOSURES

The U.S. Embassy Consular Section will be closed for upgrading its processing facilities on Friday, October 22 and Monday, October 25. During this time no visa interviews will be possible, but services for American citizens will be available.

Beginning October 26, 2004, no visa applicants will be required to submit visa application materials prior to the day of their interview. Anyone who appears at the Embassy on any business day between 7:30 - 10:00 a.m. with a completed application will be interviewed the same day.

We encourage all applicants to use the electronic visa application form (Form DS-156) located on the Embassy's website at http://malaysia.usembassy.gov. While the form can still be printed off the computer and filled in by hand, filling out the form on-line and printing the bar-coded form will greatly reduce the time required for the application and interview. All applicants who come to the Consular Section with a bar-coded form that has been filled out on-line and with all other required documents will be interviewed first. Applicants without bar-coded forms will have to wait to be interviewed until after the on-line queue has been interviewed.
