50 years of friendship - Senyum!

On August 31, the United States will celebrate with all Malaysians on the 50th anniversary of Malaysian independence. To commemorate our 50 years of partnership and cooperation, the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia, Christopher J. LaFleur, and Encik Nor Azmal bin Mohd Nazir, Deputy Secretary General (Heritage), Ministry of Culture, Arts & Heritage, recently launched "Senyum!", a major photo exhibition highlighting the full spectrum of American-Malaysian friendship and cooperation, at the National Library in Kuala Lumpur.

A walk through the exhibit is a walk through time. Whether it is Prime Ministers meeting Presidents, Malaysians studying at U.S. universities, American Peace Corps volunteers and English teachers at work in rural Malaysia - these photos bring back fond memories and offer proof of our multi-faceted and rewarding relationship.

In the coming year, the exhibit will travel throughout Malaysia. "Senyum!" It's coming to a state library near you.
