Deputy Chief of Mission
Lee McClenny is currently Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur. Mr McClenny arrived on August 15, 2011 and has assumed his duties as Deputy Chief of Mission.
Immediately prior to this assignment, Mr. McClenny served as Consul General in Montreal. Mr. McClenny served as Public Affairs Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Manila from 2005 to 2008 and previously at the U.S. embassies in Ottawa, Belgrade, Guatemala City and London. He has also been assigned in Washington, DC at the U.S. Department of State as the Director of the Press Office and as the Public Affairs Advisor in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs. Additionally, Mr. McClenny served on detail assignments at the National Security Council, in Washington, DC; at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, in London; and at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), in Brussels.
Mr. McClenny is from San Francisco, California. He holds a BA from the University of Washington, in Seattle, and is a graduate of the State Department’s Senior Seminar. He is married to Katherine Latimer, and his son, Blake, and daughter, Kate, are both students attending university in the U.S.
