Tips for a smooth visit to the ACS unit

Don’t come unless you have to. While we are always happy to see our American citizen clients, we have limited waiting room space. If you can conduct your business by e-mail, online or mail, please do so.

Come early. We recommend that you come early since walk-in clients for passport applications and notary services are taken on a first-come first-serve basis.

Bring something to entertain yourself and/or  your children. Your visit could last a while, even for simple notaries.

For passport applicants: Complete (but don’t sign) your passport application before you arrive.

For passport applicants: Bring two photos that meet our requirements.

Photo Instructions

For notary services: Do not sign the document, but ensure that all other blanks are filled in before coming to the Embassy. If your signature must be notarized and witnessed, you must bring your witness(es) with you.

For reports of birth: Call 603-2168-5000 or e-mail KLConsular@state.gov (put "ACS CRBA" in the subject line) to schedule an appointment.

Security at the Consular Section.
All official facilities are mandated to use access control procedures for all visitors and their handbags and packages. No luggage, electronic or photographic equipment is permitted in our waiting room or on other Embassy premises.
